You can also soak your hands in warm water for 10 to 20 minutes first to help speed up the process. Fill a small bowl with nail polish remover. Lay a small towel over your soaking hand and the bowl and soak for 10 minutes.
Then you soak your nails in a cotton pad soaked in acetone. Pour 100 percent acetone into a large Ziploc baggie filling it up just enough to be able to fully submerge your nails. Be careful not to snip off your real nails.
Now its time to soak your nails into the bowl. Cut off your acrylic nails again get as close to your real nails as possible without actually snipping them off. Gather your items and find a room with good ventilation as acetone has a strong odor.
Make sure your nails are completely submerged and keep them in the bowl for at least 30 minutes. You can soak off your nails at home with pure acetone -- and maybe a few other tools -- with relative ease. This goes without saying but be careful to not stick your fingers in liquid that is too hot After that you should be able to easily scrape the gel polish off with a metal nail file or wooden stick without damaging the acrylic underneath.
