Clear Nail Polish Over Acrylic Paint
Nail polish might react badly with acrylic paint its expensive and the fumes are horrible but if its what you want to do go for it.
Clear nail polish over acrylic paint. If you would like your design to be permanent after it is completely dry use a waterproof sealer over the design to protect it. I have been using acetone lately on most of my colors just because it is easier and quicker to take off. But you cannot mix nail polish and acrylic paint together the chemical structure is completely different and the water in the paint will coagulate the nail polish.
This step applies if there are any existing nail polish on the acrylic nails that you applied previously. Use it to soak off any excess paint from your acrylic nails. Once the acrylic paint dries the clear coat will bond just as it would with dry nail polish.
Do not let the acrylic come into contact with your skin or cuticles. Your project should be ready after 24 hours of dry time. You can also use Q-tips for smaller areas on your nails.
I slightly thin mine with a few drops of water. One point nobody has mentioned however. So you can step up to apply the coat.
If you havent yet applied the top coat you can even use an alcohol prep pad or possibly even water to remove it. Removing Your Old Nail Polish. Wipe away any excess acrylic with a clean brush dipped in acetone nail polish remover. In fact many people prefer to use a clear polish over acrylic nail art or paint. The same rules apply you will need to make sure that you paint over the colour underneath to avoid it.
